On April, 28, 2022 the results of the final round of the International Intercollegiate Online Olympiad of Russian as a foreign language ” Variety of cultures in a single world” were summed up. The event was organized by the Department of Russian Language and Speech Culture of KSMU.
The Olympiad covered a large audience of participants from universities from different countries: the finalists were 15 foreign students representing Kursk State Medical University, Kursk State University, Ryazan State Medical University named after I.P. Pavlov, Grodno State Medical University and Voronezh State Medical University named after N.N. Burdenko, as well as Orenburg State Medical University.
The opening of the final round began with a greeting of students by the head of the Department of Russian Language and Culture of Speech I.A. Kovyneva.
Excellent presentations dedicated to music, dance, epic, cultural and culinary traditions helped the participants to plunge into the world of India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Tunisia, Cameroon, Lebanon, Palestine, Central Asia. The competition culminated in a live performance of Cameroonian dances and Tunisian national songs.
The jury evaluated the participants’ performances according to the following criteria: speaking and listening skills, knowledge of the topic, activity of participants during the discussion.
According to the results of the voting, the winners of the Olympiad among students studying in English were:
1st place – Kayem Husna, 5th year student of the International Medical Institute of KSMU
2nd place – Lohande Sejal Ramesh, 2nd year student of the Faculty of Foreign Students of Orenburg State Medical University
3rd place – Kularatne Tishan Lakmal, 3rd year student of Grodno State Medical University
