The visit of several Maldivian citizens — graduates of Kursk State Medical University — once again confirmed that KSMU truly becomes a second home for international students and a reliable harbor in the stormy sea of life.

Ibrahim Moomin, Khadheeja Abdulla, Aminath Nusra, Ahmed Saleem, Nazma Hameed, and Ahmed Nishan came to Kursk especially for this long-awaited reunion with their Alma Mater.

They did not come alone — they brought their children with them. The children joyfully touched snow for the first time, were amazed to discover that frost can pinch cheeks, fingers, and ears, and were surprised to see that the strict rector gives gifts, smiles, and even invites them to study at KSMU.

Twenty years later… They graduated from KSMU in 2006 and returned home to treat their fellow citizens. They became respected physicians with extensive clinical experience. And at last, they were able to fulfill their dream — to return to Kursk, walk once again through the familiar corridors, and visit their favorite departments.

“So much has changed — it has become so beautiful. It’s simply unrecognizable!”

“Is the Anatomy Department still in the same place?”

“Where are the portraits of the top students displayed now?”

“Look, my son — soon you will be studying here!”

This warm and touching event once again proves that KSMU is not only a recognized international center of high-quality medical education. It is a place of friendship among students from different countries and continents; a place where yesterday’s schoolchildren grow up and become professional physicians; a place one always longs to return to —

even after twenty years.
