On April 6, 2021, Rector of KSMU Professor V.A. Lazarenko took part in a round table discussion dedicated to the development of higher medical and pharmaceutical education, the participation of medical and pharmaceutical universities in the implementation of projects within the framework of the frontal strategy of socio-economic development of the Russian Federation, which took place at the Sechenov University.

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko, Deputy Ministers of Health of the Russian Federation, Head of Federal Education and Science Supervision Service, rectors of 48 medical and pharmaceutical universities participated in the meeting.

The following key areas of the medical university development were discussed: educational activity, personnel policy, participation of the university in the development of the region, digital transformation of the university, mechanisms of interaction with international partners, research, medical activity, infrastructure and management of the scientific and educational complex, university reputation policy.

Within the framework of key areas, the following issues were raised: changing the education paradigm with the inclusion and expansion of digital technologies, the development of the research sector; selection of applicants for medical and pharmaceutical universities; expansion of international cooperation; training of personnel for the health care system, including highly qualified personnel in postgraduate school; mentoring.

Universities were recommended to carry out work in 2021 on updating (approving) the development program of an educational organization according to the form proposed by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
