Traditionally, in autumn, Departments of Normal Physiology named after A.V. Zavyalov, Pathophysiology and Pharmacology of Kursk State Medical University organize a regional conference “Pavlov Readings” in honor of a Russian scientist, the first Russian Nobel laureate (in the field of medicine and physiology of 1904 for works on digestion physiology), a great physiologist, creator of the doctrine of higher nervous activity, conditional reflexes; founder of the largest world physiological school Ivan Petrovich Pavlov (1849-1936). In 2022, the conference was held on September 28 and was dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Departments of Pharmacology and Pathophysiology.
A plenary session was held in the second lecture hall of KSMU. The opening speech was made by the Vice-Rector for Research Work and Innovative Development, Professor V.A. Lipatov, Head of the Department of Pathophysiology, Professor I.I. Bobyntsev, Head of the Department of Pharmacology, Professor G.S. Mal and Head of the Department of Normal Physiology named after A.V. Zavyalov, Associate Professor P.V. Tkachenko. 2 reports were presented at the plenary session. The Department of Pathophysiology was represented by I.I. Bobyntsev who made a report “Department of Pathophysiology: 85 years of creation and success”; from the Department of Pharmacology, a report was presented by a 6th-year student of the Faculty of Medicine A.M. Smakhtina “Heritage of I.P. Pavlov and Pharmacology Today” (Scientific Supervisor – Head of the Department of Pharmacology G.S. Mal).
During the conference there were 3 sections. The work of the breakout sessions was intense. 12 reports were heard in the section of the Department of Pharmacology; in the sectional meeting of the Department of Pathophysiology, there were 10 reports, in the section of the Department of Normal Physiology named after A.V. Zavyalov – 9.
The conference was conducted in a friendly atmosphere. Lively discussions were held among the participants of the conference on the results of the reports, which revealed new perspectives in the further scientific work.
We would like to express our gratitude to the administration of KSMU for the opportunity to hold such important events aimed at honoring the names of great Russian scientists, one of which was I.P. Pavlov, who left an indelible mark on the development of fundamental science. If mankind could not use all that Pavlov’s genius discovered, it would be much poorer. Many centuries will pass, but humanity will always be grateful to him for his great discoveries and foresight and will surely continue his noble work. Kursk State Medical University is also aimed at continuation of scientific research of I.P. Pavlov.
