MICHAIL MURASHKO TOOK PART IN THE PROMOTION DEVOTED TO THE NATIONAL DONOR DAY
The promotion aimed at popularizing donation and a responsible approach to blood donation and its components was held today in the Ministry of Health of Russia.
— Today is the national Donor Day in Russia, and I would like to express my gratitude to all those people who donate their blood, saving people’s lives. To those health professionals who work in the blood service and ensure the uninterrupted supply and quality of the drugs delivered. In 2021, we had new progress — the number of blood donors exceeded 1.3 million people, of whom more than 98% donated blood for free. Over the past year, more than 2 million liters of blood were harvested, and the number of blood donations amounted to almost 3 million,” the Minister said.
He also stressed that last year new drugs based on blood plasma appeared in the arsenal of medical workers. First of all, we are talking about anticovid immunoglobulin, which is widely used in the “red zones” for the treatment of patients with a new coronavirus infection. The number of immune plasma donors increased more than 7 times last year.
— Blood processing, the formation of drugs based on plasma, is the most modern therapy that can be used in medical organizations, – said Mikhail Murashko.
