Today, February 9, marks the 90th anniversary of the founding of Kursk State Medical University, and the 52nd graduation of students from the International Medical Institute of KSMU took place in the university’s Assembly Hall!
A diploma from Kursk Medical University is not just a certificate of receiving quality medical education in a number of countries; it significantly enhances social status within the country, guarantees respect from fellow citizens, and ensures a stable, independent financial situation. Moreover, the knowledge gained at the IMI of KSMU allows graduates to easily switch between specializations and even hold high positions in the public health systems of their countries. Over the years, KSMU has produced more than 6,000 highly qualified, successful doctors for 82 countries worldwide. Thus, graduation for students of the IMI of KSMU and their parents is a true celebration—a start to a new, secure, and promising life!
“I would like you to remember your university teachers as often as you remember your school teachers!” said KSMU Rector Professor V.A. Lazarenko in his welcoming speech to the graduates. “I encourage you today to hug and thank your parents, as many of them specifically came to Kursk to share in your joy. Remember: your diploma is also their victory; it is your joint success!”
Victor Anatolievich reminded the former students of another important point: “A doctor has two hands: one is to help themselves, and the other is to help people! Always remember this!”
Today, there were many honored guests in the presidium and the hall who came to Kursk for this graduation and the 90th anniversary of KSMU. Among them were the Counselor of the Malaysian Embassy in the Russian Federation, Faizal Bin Shani; the Minister of Education and Internal Affairs of the Indian Embassy in the Russian Federation, Bathula Venkateshwar Vinay Kumar; the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Minister of the Royal Thai Embassy in the Russian Federation, Mrs. Warafanni Damrongmani; the First Secretary/Consul of the Royal Thai Embassy in the Russian Federation, Mr. Sorakham Sutthisangiam; and the first foreign graduate of KSMU, Dr. Singh Pradyuman Kumar. All of them wished the graduates success in their professional endeavors back home. Additionally, as confirmed by KSMU Rector Professor V.A. Lazarenko, many International students are welcomed by the university as residents and postgraduates.
On this day, 120 graduates received diplomas, 7 of them with honors. Naturally, it was a very emotional day for everyone. Many graduates took the oath with tears in their eyes.
And so, for the last time, the majestic and beautiful anthem of Kursk State Medical University resounded, the tassels on the caps were moved to the left side according to unwritten student tradition, and it was time to say goodbye to the university, beloved teachers, and hospitable Kursk. When asked, “What was the hardest part of your years at the university?” the response from all the IMI graduates was nearly unanimous: “The hardest part is saying goodbye to KSMU!”
