Students of Kursk State Medical University, together with the acting head of the Department of Philosophy and the director of the History Museum of Kursk State Medical University, E.S. Kravtsova, took part in the opening and operation of the Lecture Hall organized by the Kursk Regional Society of Local History.

The participants of the meeting learned a lot of new and interesting information: M. Gorky visited Kursk three times and was even detained by the police the first time, and A. Peshkov, who observed the removal of the Kursk Original Icon, was struck by the “incredible number of beggars, cripples, deformities, and sick people” at that time; on the eve of the First Russian Revolution, Kursk surprised Maxim Gorky with a large number of monarchists. The prototype of the main character Pavel in the novel “Mother” – P.A. Zalomov lived in the town of Sudzha in Kursk Province, and M. Gorky had a prolonged interaction with him.
