On March 21-22, 2024 in Kaluga on the territory of K.E.Tsiolkovsky Kaluga State University took place the V Forum of Oncologists, in which the delegation from Kursk, which presented 8 reports, took part. Uglješa Stanonojević, professor of the Oncology Department, chief physician of the G.E.Ostroverkhov KO NCC, was the moderator of the section “Thoracoabdominal Oncology” and presented a report on the three-year experience of laparoscopic surgery of gastric cancer. As a result, it turned out that Kursk has quite a rich experience in this area in the Central Federal District, and is only slightly inferior in this area to the federal centers. All reports received high marks.
On the second day Professor V.V.Khvostovoy, Head of Oncology Department of KSMU, spoke at the meeting of the working group of the Association of Oncologists of Russia on the issues of postgraduate training in oncology, trajectory of oncologists’ training in residency, making a number of valuable suggestions.
At the end of the event V. V. Khvostovoy traditionally took part in the medical intellectual quiz as a member of the first created team of 4 people, which included a doctor from Kaluga and two 5th year students from Obninsk. The team was named “Black Square” in Kursk style. As a result, the team took 2nd place out of 11, losing only to a well-coordinated team of 10 people from Obninsk.
