On February 8, 2023, on the Day of Russian Science, the Russian Organization “Knowledge”, with the participation of the Council of Rectors of Russia, together with the Ministry of Education of Russia, held the national event “Scientists in School”, which scientists from Kursk State Medical University also took part in. Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Philosophy Department E.S. Kravtsovaa gave a lecture dedicated to the life of Kursk during the occupation and liberation of the city throughout the Great Patriotic War in the 10th – 11th grades of the Verkhnemedveditskaya Secondary School of Kursk district, Kursk region, . The initiative of lectures at the school by scientists takes place within the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia and is designed to demonstrate the achievements of national science, opportunities and prospects for the development of youth in the scientific and technological fields. At KSMU, it was also timed to the Teacher and Mentor Year, which was announced by the President of Russia.
The topic, which was chosen for the speech, is not accidental, because on February 8, 2023 our city celebrates the 80th anniversary of liberation. During the lecture, the issues of the defense of Kursk in late October – early November 1941 were considered, attention was paid to the city defenders, the history of the Kursk Medical Institute during the war and the fate of some graduates of the university, including A.I. Kaplinskaya and K.G. Anosova, who on February 8, 1943, as part of their military units, entered the city as liberators. An important place in the lecture was occupied by the theme of the liberation of Kursk and the mystery of S.N. Perekalsky’s death. The lecture was well–founded thank to the reports of the officers from Red Army and NKVD and Kursk eyewitnesses, also the Great Patriotic War folklore. The chronicle of the Great Patriotic War, including unique shots, such as S.N. Perekalsky’s funeral and the hoisting of the flag on the House of Pioneers after the liberation of the city take a separate place.
