On January 30, 2024 in Kursk State Medical University took place the 50th solemn ceremony of diploma awarding – anniversary graduation of foreign students. Diplomas of IMI KSMU were received by 147 newly graduated doctors on specialty “Medicine” from 9 countries of the world: India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Nigeria, Brazil, Thailand, Maldives, Myanmar and Nepal. 19 especially distinguished graduates received honorary red diplomas.
KSMU is one of the leading medical universities of the Russian Federation in education of foreign citizens. The history of training of students from other countries in the field of medicine in KSMU dates back to 1990. During this period more than 6000 foreign citizens from 74 countries have successfully completed their studies. The high level of education in KSMU is confirmed by obtaining international accreditation and recognition in different countries of the world. So, in 2021 KSMU received international accreditation of the World Federation of Medical Education WFME. In June 2023 the recognition of the Medical Council of the Republic of South Africa was received and in 2024 it was included in the lists of the Chinese Center for Study Abroad, subordinated to the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.
– Our graduates work in all countries of the world, except New Zealand, – Prof. V.A.Lazarenko, Rector of KSMU, told journalists. – And some even stay to work in Russia. Today 9 people, graduates of our foreign faculty, work at the University as teachers. From them 3 candidates of sciences and one is finishing his doctoral thesis.
Rector of KSMU Victor Anatolievich Lazarenko, who opened the solemn event, wished the graduates success in their professional careers and noted the importance of preserving student brotherhood and craving for knowledge throughout their lives. Rector noted that the diploma of KSMU is a guide to medical profession all over the world, and this is confirmed by the widest geography of employment of foreign graduates of KSMU.
With the words of congratulations to the graduates and their parents addressed the guests of honor, who wished our students to become real professionals in their field and always remember with warmth the years of study in Kursk.
The most solemn and exciting part of the event was the traditional oath of graduates, after saying which yesterday’s student finally becomes a doctor.
Filled with joyful emotions the event ended with the presentation of gifts from graduates to their favorite university and a wonderful musical surprise of now former students of the International Medical Institute of KSMU!
