On February 14, 2023 with the support of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow in the person of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Professor Janita A. Liyanage a meeting in an online video conference form took place between the administration of the Kursk State Medical University and the Gampaha Vikramarachchi University of Folk Medicine (Sri Lanka) representatives, Rector Professor Ranjana V. Seneviratne and Director of the International Center Doctor Asanka Pallevatta.

Rector of KSMU, Professor V.A. Lazarenko, Vice-Rector for Educational Activities and General Issues V.P. Gavrilyuk and Director of the International Medical Institute M. T. Shekhine took part in the conference from KSMU.

During the meeting, they discussed the establishment of the Russian-Lankan Association of Medical and Related Sciences Universities, which will be headed by the Rector of KSMU, Professor V.A. Lazarenko.

Rector of Gampaha Vikramarachchi University of Folk Medicine (Sri Lanka) Ranjana V. Seneviratne, who is also a practicing surgeon in Sri Lanka, noted that the Russian-Lankan Association is a great opportunity to unite Russia and Sri Lanka, as well as a platform for establishing links between our universities for the experience and knowledge exchange. The Association will be the basis for the collaboration of folk and Western medicine with its own training program, and both directions will be developed on the same platform.

The participants of the meeting made presentations about educational institutions, discussed areas of cooperation in the field of science and the fulfillment of the Russian-Lankan Association of Medical and Related Sciences Universities and also instructed their staff to prepare a draft agreement for the establishment of the Association.
