The beginning of October for the Olympic team in surgery of KSMU was marked by a bright event – on October 1-2, 2022, the All-Russian Olympiad of medical students “Medical Quest” was held within the walls of Kazan Federal University (KFU), dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology of KFU with international participation.

Our students competed in knowledge and skills with the students of North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov (St. Petersburg), The Pavlov First Saint Petersburg State Medical University (St. Petersburg), KFU (Kazan), Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education Belgorod State National Research University (Belgorod), Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “Mari State University” (Yoshkar-Ola), Khanty-Mansiysk State Medical Academy (Khanty-Mansiysk), Saratov State Medical University named after V.I. Razumovsky (Saratov), RUDN (Moscow), Bashkir State Medical University (Ufa).

A rich program was prepared for the participants. The first day of the Olympiad included a test of emergency care skills: advanced CPR, CPR of newborns, children, airway management, first aid for burns, fractures and etc.

On the second day, the team needed to demonstrate their knowledge and practical skills in the surgical field in the following areas: urology, abdominal surgery, endovideo surgery, cardiovascular surgery, traumatology, knitting of surgical knots, plastic and microvascular surgery.

The team of Kursk State Medical University successfully demonstrated the highest level of theoretical and practical training and was awarded in the following competitions:

I degree Diplomas – “Endovideosurgery”, “Urology”;

II degree Diploma  – “Airway management: tracheal intubation”;

III degree Diplomas – “Forensic medical examination: study of a stab-cut wound”, “CPR of newborns”, “CPR. Extended Complex”, “Abdominal Surgery”.
