July is in full swing on the calendar, the academic classes have ended, and it’s time to fully embrace the summer mood and forget about studies until the fall. For the IMI KSMU students who remained in Kursk for the holidays, under the guidance of the social and cultural adaptation department supervisor Dugina M.V., a real plein-air session was organized outdoors.
On July 25, 2024, students from India and Malaysia were painting beautiful landscapes of the Tuskar river in the open air.
Expressing their creative abilities, feeling the natural lighting, and transferring it all onto paper is quite a challenge. Light in color and transparent in technique, the sketches were created on the embankment, offering a breathtaking view. All the participants ended up with images filled with delightful emotions and transparent air, with a bright blue sky, the river, and distant hazy horizons.
Creating in nature enhances artistic skills, connects one with nature, and develops creative activity and initiative, contributing to the development of aesthetic taste, which is important for future doctors. Plein-air work provides an emotional charge. Even years later, when looking at the works, you precisely remember where and when they were painted and what you felt at the time, and the memory of being in Russia with its unique history, hospitable people, and extraordinarily beautiful nature is always warmly cherished by the foreign students.
When working en plein air, it feels as if everything around you ceases to exist, and there is only you and the object of your intent.
Plein-air is a wonderful time for inspiration and creativity!
