On February 8, a grand concert was held at KSMU featuring students from the International Medical Institute (IMI), dedicated to several significant events: the 82nd anniversary of the liberation of Kursk from Nazi invaders, the Day of Russian Science, the 90th anniversary of Kursk State Medical University, and the 52nd graduation of IMI, which takes place today, February 9.
The concert began with a ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to medical workers who died during the Special Military Operation (SMO).
– “We will always remember the heroism of the older generation that liberated our Motherland from enemy occupation and defeated fascism,” said KSMU Rector Professor V.A. Lazarenko.
The honorary guest of the event, Captain First Rank V.I. Tankov, commander of the nuclear submarine “Karelia,” also addressed the assembly with a welcoming speech.
After the flower-laying ceremony, the university administration and numerous guests, who had arrived from places including Thailand, Uzbekistan, and India, proceeded to the opening of an exhibition of national cultures from the countries whose representatives study at KSMU’s, currently totaling 42: India, Thailand, Malaysia, Brazil, Maldives, Ecuador, Sri Lanka, countries of Southern Africa, and many others. The many visitors to the exhibition were able to see examples of national costumes from these countries, hear stories about their traditions, and taste dishes from their national cuisines.
Before the concert began, the honorary guests, following Rector Professor V.A. Lazarenko, shared their impressions of the exhibition from the stage: Ms. Varafanni Damrongmani, the Plenipotentiary Minister of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand in the Russian Federation, and Dr. P.K. Singh (India), the first foreign graduate of KSMU.
As for the concert itself, which featured performances not only from Russian students but also from students from India, the Maldives, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and African countries, it was a vibrant show filled with melodies, rhythms, and colors of the national cultures of different countries. The time spent in the hall flew by in an instant, like a magical journey across our wonderful planet, where completely different people live, but they all desire just one thing – peace.
Only peace and friendship among nations provide every person on earth with happiness, freedom, education, and immense opportunities for development!
