On March 9, 2024 IMI students of KSMU from India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Brazil and Nigeria held a round-robin chess tournament on the territory of the Public Support Headquarters of Kursk region. Oleg Kulikov, International Master, President of Kursk Region Chess Federation, fought with 15 foreign students at the same time.
In IMI KSMU there is an international club “Health”, which holds events aimed at popularization of healthy lifestyle and tournaments in different kinds of sports. This weekend was not an exception, and under the guidance of the tutor of the department of socio-cultural adaptation of IMI KSMU M.V. Dugina students played chess with great interest. The winner from Sri Lanka, Kuttikanda Gamaathiralalage Kisal Garaka, the only one from Sri Lanka who played a draw with an international master, said: “I am happy to play chess which brings people from different countries together.”
