In the period of May 16-17, 2022, the All-Russian Scientific and Practical conference “Topical issues of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology”, dedicated to the memory of Professor Albert Vazgenovich Pogosov, was held on the basis of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychosomatics of the KSMU of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in a remote format.
The conference was attended by employees of the Departments of Psychiatry, Narcology and medical Psychology of the leading universities of Russia: I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, N.I. Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, A.I. Evdokimov Moscow State Medical and Dental University, Kazan State Medical University, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Stavropol State Medical University, Russian State Pedagogical University. A.I. Herzen, Kursk State Medical University and a number of other leading medical organizations from 18 Federal Districts of the Russian Federation, as well as colleagues from near and far abroad.
The conference participants were greeted by: Vice-Rector for Educational Activities and General Issues, Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery and Pediatrics of the Institute of Continuing Education, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Vasily Petrovich Gavrilyuk; Vice-President of the Russian Society of Psychiatrists, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Boris Dmitrievich Tsygankov; Chief psychiatrist of the Kursk region, chief physician of the Kursk Clinical Psychiatric Hospital. the Holy Great Martyr and healer Panteleimon, deputy of the Kursk Regional Duma Yuri Valeryevich Roshchin.
The speakers noted the huge contribution of Professor A.V. Pogosov to the development of the Kursk Scientific Psychiatric School. For a number of years, he was Chairman of the Board of the Kursk Branch of the Russian Society of Psychiatrists, was an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Higher Education of Ukraine, was on the editorial boards of Russian and foreign publications on psychiatry and narcology. Under his leadership, 17 candidate’s dissertations were defended in the dissertation councils of Moscow, Tomsk and St. Petersburg. Albert Vazgenovich, one of the founders and permanent head of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychosomatics of KSMU for 17 years, was remembered as a talented scientist and leader, a competent doctor, a sympathetic colleague and teacher for many participants of the conference.
During the two days of the conference, 31 scientific reports were heard and discussed, among which the reports of leading scientists of our country in the field of psychiatry and medical psychology aroused the greatest interest among the forum participants:

Evdokimov, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Boris Dmitrievich Tsygankov on the topic: “Mental disorders in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic”;
– Director of the Borderline States Clinic, Head of the Department of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Medical Psychology of Stavropol State Medical University, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Military Sciences of the Russian Federation, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Igor Viktorovich Boev, on the topic: “Borderline abnormal personality in the constitutional personality continuum”;
— Head of the Department of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology of Kazan State Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vladimir Davydovich Mendelevich, on the topic: “Spectrum of anxiety disorders: differential diagnosis for the sake of targeted therapy”;
– Professor of the Department of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Pathology of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Yuri Pavlovich Sivolap, on the topic: “Neurotransmission and neuropsychiatry”;
– Head of the Department of General and Clinical Psychology of Kursk State Medical University, Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor Tatiana Dmitrievna Vasilenko: “Medical psychology: methodological problems, solutions”.
According to the unanimous opinion of the organizers and participants, the conference was held in a fruitful and creative discussion, in an atmosphere of constructive dialogue and exchange of experience and opinions.
