For international students who came to Kursk to study medicine, discovering Russia goes far beyond lecture halls. It also means immersing themselves in the rich and authentic culture of the region. To make this experience vivid and memorable, the KSMU Center for Creative Development, together with the Department of Philosophy, organized a special cultural celebration for students of the International Medical Institute of KSMU.

✨ Guests from different countries explored the living traditions that preserve the soul of the Kursk land:

👗 Unique folk costume
Students saw an authentic early 20th-century women’s folk costume and learned about the symbolism of its patterns and traditional tailoring.

🎶 The magic of clay
The legendary Kozhlyanka whistle toy revealed its secrets — from its ancient protective meaning to the process of its creation. Participants not only heard its clear sound, but also colored toy sketches in traditional Kursk colors.

💃 The energy of song and dance
The performance by the folk ensemble “Sedmitsa” became a real highlight. Lyrical songs, lively chastushkas, and ritual chants filled the hall, while a dance workshop introduced guests to elements of the famous “Timonya” dance.

🏆 The event concluded with a quiz, and the most active participants received authentic Kozhlyanka toys as memorable souvenirs.

This day became much more than a cultural excursion for future doctors from Asia, Africa, and other regions of the world. It was a warm encounter with Kursk hospitality — filled with sounds, colors, emotions, and unforgettable memories of the Nightingale Land.
