On June 4, 2024 in the Anatomical Theater of KSMU the opening of the conference “From FUNDAMENTAL KNOWLEDGE TO ‘FINE SKILLS OF SCALPEL’” took place. Rector of Kursk State Medical University, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, deputy of the Kursk Regional Duma of the seventh convocation, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor V.A. Lazarenko made a welcoming speech.

Then the listeners took part in a video trip to the memorable places of work as a zemstvo doctor V.F. Voyno-Yasenetsky, and the participants were welcomed by the guests of honor and co-organizers of the event. After that the plenary lectures began, and then the work of symposia.

For the first time within the framework of the conference there was a symposium “Topical issues of pediatric surgery”, moderated by Yatsyk Sergey Pavlovich – Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Research Institute of Pediatric Surgery of the Federal State Institution “Children’s Health Research Center” of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor; Gavrilyuk Vasily Petrovich – Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery and Pediatrics of the Institute of Continuing Education of KSMU, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor.

The program of the symposium was full of reports by specialists from central clinics on various areas of pediatric surgery (from cryptorchidism to minimally invasive removal of thoracic masses). Speakers of the symposium were leading specialists in the field of pediatric surgery, representing such bases as: Research Institute of Pediatric Surgery of the Federal State Autonomous Institution “NMIC of Children’s Health” of the Ministry of Health of Russia (Moscow), Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology (Moscow), Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “Russian University of Medicine” of the Ministry of Health of Russia (Moscow).
