On May 27 in the new library there was a grand opening of the exhibition-viewing “From History to Modernity” dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology. The department is one of the oldest in Kursk State Medical University.
The exhibition was organized by the library and the department with the participation of the University Archive and the Museum of History of KSMU.
Natalia Sergeevna Meshcherina, Vice-Rector for Medical Activity and Development of Regional Health Care, Associate Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, made a welcoming speech. Natalya Sergeevna noted the special importance of the department during the COVID-19 epidemic, emphasizing that from this time a new history in infectious diseases begins. Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology, Associate Professor, Candidate of Medical Sciences Victoria Valentinovna Kiseleva told about the service of infectious diseases doctor in the last century and in the modern world.
Professor Kravtsova Elena Sergeevna, Head of the Department of Philosophy, Ph.D., gave a brief excursion on the history of medicine, mentioning the Aptekarsky order of the 16th-17th centuries.
Librarian Galina Petrovna Gustilina prepared a review of the book exhibition.
The exposition is devoted to the history of the department, the heritage of its leaders and staff. The exhibition presents rare collections of scientific works of the department, monographs, educational, educational and methodical manuals, doctoral and candidate’s theses defended by the department staff in different years, abstracts, publications of the department staff in periodicals, electronic editions, as well as patent documents.
Students, scientific and pedagogical staff and members of the department took an active part in viewing the book exposition, noting the achievements in the field of education and science of their colleagues and predecessors.
Presented articles and photos of the past years, reflecting the historical milestones of the formation and development of the department, aroused great interest among the visitors.
The exhibition-viewing will continue its work till 03.06.24.
