Theater is not only entertainment, but also a powerful educational tool. It allows audiences to see the world through the eyes of others, learn about different cultures and explore important social and psychological issues. For foreigners, theater offers a unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge of our country and its people. Visiting the theater can improve the language skills of foreign students: by listening to the living language and seeing how actors translate words into actions, they begin to better understand the subtleties and nuances of the Russian language.
The students of the International Medical Institute of KSMU from Malaysia, Nigeria and Maldives visited Kursk Youth Theatre “Rovesnik” named after I.V. Selivanov, where they watched with interest the Russian play “About my mother and about me” by the modern playwright Elena Isaeva and, watching how the main character of the comedy grows and changes, immersed themselves in the atmosphere of Russian culture. During the performance the students were able not only to enjoy the high skill of the actors, but also to understand the depth and versatility of Russian drama. After the performance the students were delighted with what they had seen and expressed their desire to familiarize themselves with other works of Russian literature and art. The visit to the Rovesnik Theater allowed them to familiarize themselves with Russian culture and broaden their horizons.
For the students of the International Medical Institute visiting cultural events plays an important role in their acquisition of country studies and educational experience.
