An enlarged meeting of Student Scientific Circle (SSC) of the Department of Health Psychology and Neuropsychology with the participation of the SSC of the Department of Special Psychology and Correctional Pedagogics of KSU was held  in the form of a round table on the eve of the Day of Mental Health in Kursk Medical University.

Mental Health Day has been an annual event since 1992 with the support of WHO and the World Federation for Mental Health. In Russia, Mental Health Day has been celebrated since 2002 at the initiative of academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences T.B. Dmitrieva.

The participants were greeted by: Head of the Center for Neuropsychology “Izyuminka” (Moscow) Doctor of Psychological Sciences Andrey Vladimirovich Tsvetkov, Vice-Rector for Educational Work, Social Development and Public Relations Head of the Department of Health Psychology and Neuropsychology Candidate of Psychological Sciences Alesya Anatolyevna Kuznetsova, Associate Professor of the Department of Special Psychology and Correctional Pedagogics of KSU Head of the SSC of the Department Candidate of Psychological Sciences Karina Feliksovna Mirakyan.

Students discussed the issues of modern methods and technologies for preserving mental health of various age categories of citizens, aspects of preventive measures aimed at improving mental well-being. Students shared their practical experience in implementing their own projects related to improving the quality of life, preserving mental health, which reflect both scientific and practical modes. The reports “Prevention of Bullying in Adolescence”, “Prevention of Suicidal Behavior in Adolescents”, “First Step to Conscious Motherhood”, “Modern Technologies for Formation of Motivation to Study”, “Fairytale Therapy as a Method of Increasing the Resilience of First-year Students” caused a strong discussion. A lot of positive emotions were caused by the scientific and practical results of work with children with health limitations within the framework of the activity of the Phoenix volunteer group.

In a friendly atmosphere, psychologists and defectologists have found topics for possible joint research.
